e-TeleQuote Insurance is committed to living our values and giving back to the communities in which we live and work.
Every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to make a significant difference in someone’s life. Whether it’s volunteering our time, donating resources, or lending a helping hand, each contribution matters. Our collective efforts can create positive ripple effects that extend far beyond what we can imagine.
Below are a sample of inspiring stories from our associates around the country who embody the spirit of giving back.
Julie Gordon, Sr. Director, Learning & Development
Julie, a talented leader of our Learning & Development team, joins her friends once a month to volunteer and dedicate their time within their St. Louis, Missouri community. During the holiday season, they met at a local food bank to collect, sort, and box up the donated food items that get distributed to those in need. It’s a labor of love, and each time they get together, they are fueled by the knowledge that their efforts make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
But their commitment doesn’t stop at food. Each month they select a different organization and as they gather for their upcoming volunteer day, there’s a sense of anticipation and purpose. They know that coming together, they’re not only helping to alleviate immediate hardships but also fostering a sense of solidarity and compassion within their community.
Elizabeth Wilson, Licensed Insurance Agent
During the Christmas break, Elizabeth, a committed Sales Agent, reached out to a woman from a local group home for adults with disabilities, extending a heartfelt invitation to join her at her church’s Christmas Eve service. Knowing the holiday season can be particularly lonely for some, Elizabeth wanted to ensure that this woman felt embraced during this special time of year. With the woman’s family unable to be with her for the holidays, Elizabeth graciously offered to be her companion for the day, essentially becoming her surrogate family.
Following the service, Elizabeth and her new friend embarked on a delightful excursion, starting with a visit to Great Clips for a fresh haircut followed by shopping for cozy lounge wear outfits. But the day didn’t stop there! They went to lunch where they shared stories and laughter over a warm and delicious meal. This experience not only lifted the woman’s spirits but also left Elizabeth gratified, knowing she had made a meaningful impact in someone’s life.
Ben Porch, Chief Technology Officer
Ben, an Executive leader over our IT team, volunteers quarterly with Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa, Florida, especially during Christmas. Families in need visit the large tent for a holiday shopping experience to collect donated items, such as canned goods, children’s gifts, and clothing. As a shopper assistant, Ben helps the families navigate the different sections to pick toys or clothes based on their children’s ages and interests. Each family can choose two gifts per child, along with a sports ball and a board game.
One memorable moment was when Ben found a pair of size 14 Nike basketball shoes, which seemed unlikely to be needed. After many inquiries, a mother tearfully revealed the pair of shoes were perfect for her son, ensuring several Christmases of joy. Moments like that help to drive Ben’s commitment to volunteering, especially during the holidays.
